THE INSTRUCTOR
Erin McGinnis is an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor and Range Safety Officer. She is also a Kansas Attorney General appointed concealed carry safety instructor and has been teaching independent classes and for the Kaw Valley Gun Club in Topeka for over five years.
NRA First Steps Basic Pistol Class covers the basics of firearm safety, marksmanship (focused on bench rest shooting, standing one hand and standing two hand), as well as cleaning care and maintenance of the firearm. This class is 3 hours long and is usually offered on a Monday evening or Sunday morning (The range is open to the class only.) The course is $50.00 per student and covers all range fees, materials and targets. I can provide a firearm if you need on or you may bring your own. Student need to provide 50 rounds of factory ammunition for the class which can be purchased at the range.
The Kansas Concealed Carry Safety course is an 8 hour course that includes information on the laws in Kansas pertaining to carrying concealed, the basics of firearm safety, selecting a caliber, selecting a firearm, and how to properly conceal. The course also includes range time which is loading, making the firearm ready and shooting to qualify. The state of Kansas allows you to qualify with any handgun of your choice. (The range will only allow up to a 44 magnum.) You must shoot a series of 5 shots one handed at 3 yards, 10 shots (single or double handed your choice) at 7 yards and 10 shots (single or double handed your choice at 10 yards. You need to score 18 out of 25 shots within the target. I offer private classes for 3 or more student or will do larger group classes. Classes are $100.00 per person but I do offer discounts for Veterans, Law Enforcement, Teacher and full time students.
